Midwest Acupuncture and Pain Treatment Center has cared for patients in Wisconsin for more than 35 years—a legacy Dr. Jennifer Blahnik and Dr. Sophia Santamaria continue today.

Dr. Sophia Santamaria, DAOM, L.Ac.

Licensed Acupuncturist / Integrative Medicine Specialist

Dr. Sophia Santamaria began as a massage therapist in 2008 and studied kinesiology and psychology at Temple University. She earned her Master of Acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine from Yo San University in Los Angeles, California, and her Doctorate of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine from Five Branches University in San Jose, California. She is licensed to practice acupuncture in Wisconsin and California.

She specializes in lasting relief from pain and imbalance by blending traditional Chinese techniques with a modern understanding of the body, lifestyle, and genetics.

Dr. Jennifer Blahnik, L.Ac., OMD

Doctor of Oriental Medicine

Dr. Blahnik completed pre-med studies at UWSP, earned her degree in Acupuncture from Midwest College of Oriental Medicine, completed advanced training at the Guangzhou School of Traditional Medicine in China, and earned her OMD from the Chinese Foundation of Natural Health.

She is a certified clinical thermographer and is trained in hyperbaric oxygen, ozone, laser, homeopathy, and micro-needling facelift. She completed a two-year advanced herbal certification from the Institute of Chinese Herbology, teaches national laser certification courses, authored The Handbook of Laser Therapy, and was the first acupuncturist licensed in Wisconsin.

All practitioners are licensed by the State of Wisconsin to practice acupuncture and have passed the National Acupuncture Board Exam. Each has over eight years of schooling and is trained in Western and Chinese herbs.

The clinic has taught Traditional Chinese Medicine techniques nationally and co-authored “Laser Therapy, A Clinical Manual.” Those qualifications give patients a clear place to begin a conversation about care.
